Probability: The Road to God (Religion21)

In a quiet revolution probability has taken command of human affairs, replacing the age old king known by his royal name: Determinitus. The determiner, the king who determines what is right and what is wrong, what is good and what is bad, what is proper and what is improper. We worshiped Determinitus the First (idolatry), we worshipped Determinitus the Second (Pre-Science Religions), and we worshiped Determinitus the Third (pre-Quantum physics). And along came Probability -- the Magnificent, Probability the Queen, and removed the Determinitus dynasty from its throne; sitting pretty, baton in hand, ruling on everything human, leading God's chosen people to the promised land.

Probability is our view of God Almighty. It reflects the balance between what we know and we don't yet know. Probability is not a feature of reality, it is a feature of our understanding of reality. It reflects our ignorance -- it acknowledges are ignorance. And as probability now applies to the full range of human affairs -- it also signifies the unbound ignorance that is our human share.

The decisions our leaders are making daily are probability driven, not determinism founded. Our social and economic affairs are carried out through probability calculus. The new magic of AI is based firmly on probability dynamics. No answer is definite, every answer has a probability marker for being valid and true, or being fake and false.

The foundation of modern science is probability at its epic. Quantum physics is probability physics.

Probability by its very nature is inconsistent with fanaticism and radicalism. Everything that looks so clearly right is linked to a non-zero probability to be firmly wrong. Probability keeps us humble, reminds us of our overshadowing ignorance. Probability is the road to God, to learning what we don't know.

Probability is the language used in describing Religion 21, the religion that is defined by a single premise: God exists, but is limited by no feature we human can imagine or fathom. To practice Religion 21 you need to face the challenge of faith in God's existence all the while refraining from ascribing to God any attribute, any intention, any feature formed in our limited evolved mind.

Probability reduces our Religion21 worship to math and numbers: relaxing, expressive, sharable.

Innovation is our shared tool-box to fix what needs fixing in a very practical way.  But the very act of turning unknown into known is spiritually uplifting. Innovation is shaping up as the religion of the 21st century.
