The Science Behind Religion21
Our most advanced scientific model for the creation of the human species is Darwin's evolution. Accordingly, the prior idea of an intelligent purposeful creator is being replaced by a procedure known as "survival of the fittest". Darwin claimed that a series of very particular threats applied generation after generation eliminated, each round the less fit, so the survivors are more fit. Our biological structure, limbs and organs, including our biological brain are determined by the nature of the particular threats that showed up again and again. No other factor shapes us (So Darwin claims). Come to think about it there is no reason to believe that reality contains only such particular threats.
However, all that reality encompasses which is not a threat does not trigger the construction of any biological sensor, and more unsettling, does not trigger any brainy-neural construction. In other words, we live in Darwin's cage, clueless about reality without.
Any human description of God is based only on what Darwin allowed us to realize. It may indeed be the truth or close to it, but it may well be a misleading picture. An ancient Indian story describes seven blind men checking out an elephant. One hugs a leg, the other grabs the trunk, a third holds on to the tusks. Each describes the elephant according to their point of touch, none figures out this giant animal.
Humans are blind to all the parts of reality excluded by Darwin's evolution. The excluded parts of reality are unbound, and hence, Religion21, the post-science human religion is defined by our admission of unbound ignorance. We don't know what the territory of less ignorance will look like, but towards it we aim.
Over there the question of God will find its answer. Alas the question of the identity of the 'devil' is fully resolved, it shows up in sheep's clothing: it is the attitude that there exists an opinion that we hold so dearly, that it is immunized from contradictory evidence which may be revealed in our journey towards the territory of less ignorance.
Religion21 casts a big shadow over the prospect of soon-to-be-
discovered 'theory of everything'.
