Innovation Therapy
Therapy is needed when one's pdychology is impressed with the conclusion that things are bad, and getting worse. There is no visible way to turn things around and therefore one's options are either resignation and despair, or rage, hostility and violence.

The role of the therapist is to breath hopefulness and wholesomeness into their patient. A good way to do so is by introducing the notion of innovation: a state of mind where one believes that the problem ahead has good and viable solutions which are waiting to be discovered. And it is simply a matter of an innovation effort to make these invisible solutions visible.

The science of innovation equips its practitioner with the means and the tools to innovate their way out of a bind, replacing the irrational response that tempts them with the very rational, very potent sequence of steps that carrys out a productive innovation effort.

In short, the essentials of innovation science find a very promising territory for contribution -- becoming a tool used by therapists.

Case in point. A friend of mine has lost his beloved wife to cancer. The grief was intolerable. My friend lost his will to live. His business closed down. Their two kids were out of the house, and home alone he just deteriorated by the day, his personal hygiene neglected. Visiting him I talked innovation. Introduced a potent innovation science idea: "challenge replacement". Solve a related challenge that helps you solve the original. I found out that his wife was an aspiring writer, and she died before completing her first novel. I suggested to my friend to honor his beloved wife by hiring a professional writer to complete his wife's novel and get it published. No effort needed on his part, only to write a check. He agreed. When the book was published my friend found his will to live by dedicating himself to aggressively promoting the book.

It took me a while to impress my friend with the notion of innovation as therapy. I am not a therapist, and so I am looking for practicing therapists to join forces, and advance the potential of innovation as therapy.
